Install and Verify Your ActiveTrader EA
Follow this guide to install MetaTrader 5, place the EA in the correct data folder, activate algorithmic trading, verify the approved account, and prepare the platform for continuous operation.
Prepare the account, files, and platform first.
Correct account information and a stable platform environment prevent most installation and licence problems.
Approved Account
Confirm that the account number, broker, and server have been submitted and activated by ActiveTrader administration.
Original EA Package
Extract the downloaded ZIP file and use the original EX5 file, preset, and documentation supplied with the product.
Sufficient Balance
Confirm that the trading balance meets the selected product requirement before enabling live operation.
Stable VPS or Computer
Use a stable Windows environment with reliable internet, sufficient storage, and automatic sleep disabled.
Complete the setup in the following order.
Install the Correct MetaTrader 5 Terminal
Download and install MetaTrader 5 from the selected broker or from the official MetaTrader source. A broker-specific terminal is generally easier because the broker servers are already available.
- Complete the installation wizard.
- Open the terminal after installation.
- Allow the platform to finish downloading updates.
Log In to the Approved Trading Account
In MetaTrader 5, open the account login window and enter the approved account number, trading password, and exact broker server.
- Confirm that the account number matches the licence request.
- Confirm that the exact server is selected.
- Check that live prices are updating in Market Watch.
- Confirm that the connection indicator is active.
Extract the ActiveTrader Download Package
Extract the downloaded ZIP file before copying any files. Do not run the EA directly from inside the ZIP archive.
- Keep the original file name unchanged.
- Do not modify or decompile the EX5 file.
- Keep any supplied SET file and product instructions.
Open the MetaTrader 5 Data Folder
From the MetaTrader 5 menu, select File → Open Data Folder. This opens the active data directory used by that terminal installation.
File → Open Data Folder → MQL5 → ExpertsCopy the EA into MQL5 / Experts
Open the MQL5 folder and then open Experts. Copy the original ActiveTrader EX5 file into this directory.
- Create an ActiveTrader subfolder only when desired for organization.
- Do not place the EA in Indicators, Scripts, or Libraries.
- Do not leave the file only in Downloads or on the Desktop.
Refresh the Navigator or Restart MetaTrader 5
Return to MetaTrader 5. In the Navigator panel, right-click Expert Advisors and select Refresh. Restart the terminal if the EA does not appear.
- Open Navigator with Ctrl+N when it is hidden.
- Expand Expert Advisors and locate the ActiveTrader EA.
- Confirm that the file is not still inside a ZIP archive.
Prepare the Correct Chart and Symbol
Open the broker symbol required by the selected product. Use the broker’s exact symbol name, including any prefix or suffix.
- Use only supported product instruments.
- Use the chart timeframe stated in the supplied product instructions.
- Do not attach the EA to extra charts unless the product instructions require it.
- Contact support when the broker symbol name differs significantly.
Attach the EA to the Chart
Drag the ActiveTrader EA from Navigator onto the prepared chart, or double-click the EA while the target chart is active.
- Review the Common tab.
- Enable the EA-specific Algo Trading permission.
- Review the Inputs tab before confirming.
- Load the official SET file when one is included.
Enable Algorithmic Trading Globally
Enable the main Algo Trading control in the MetaTrader 5 toolbar. Also review the global Expert Advisor settings under Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
- Global Algo Trading must be enabled.
- The attached EA must also have trading permission.
- Do not enable DLL imports unless the supplied product instructions specifically require them.
Verify Licence and Platform Messages
After attaching the EA, review its on-chart status and the messages in the Experts and Journal tabs.
- Confirm that no licence rejection is displayed.
- Confirm that the account, broker, and server are correct.
- Confirm that there are no missing-file or permission errors.
- Save a screenshot of any error before contacting support.
Keep the Terminal Online
MetaTrader 5 must remain open, connected, and operational for the EA to work. Closing the terminal, shutting down the host computer, or losing the internet connection stops normal EA operation.
- Use a VPS for continuous operation.
- Disable sleep and hibernation on the host system.
- Check the terminal after Windows or broker updates.
Confirm product coverage before opening charts.
The table identifies supported instruments and minimum operating balance. Follow the supplied product manual for the required chart arrangement and timeframe.

Do not guess the chart timeframe or account allocation.
Use the timeframe, chart arrangement, and preset supplied with the licensed product. Contact ActiveTrader support when the package instructions and broker symbol list do not match.
Confirm the platform is ready before leaving it unattended.
Account and Connection
- Correct account number is logged in.
- Correct broker server is selected.
- Live prices are updating.
- Connection is stable.
EA and Permissions
- EA is visible in Navigator.
- EA is attached to the correct chart.
- Global Algo Trading is enabled.
- EA-specific trading permission is enabled.
Messages and Licence
- No licence rejection is displayed.
- No missing-file error is present.
- Experts tab contains no critical error.
- Journal shows normal platform operation.

The EA Does Not Appear in Navigator
Review the file location and refresh the terminal.
- Confirm the ZIP file was extracted.
- Confirm the EX5 file is inside MQL5 / Experts.
- Right-click Expert Advisors and select Refresh.
- Restart MetaTrader 5.
Algo Trading Is Disabled
Both global and EA-specific permissions must be active.
- Enable Algo Trading on the main toolbar.
- Open EA properties and review the Common tab.
- Review Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
- Check whether a profile change disabled EAs.
Licence Rejected or Account Not Authorized
The active environment may not match the approved licence data.
- Confirm the exact account number.
- Confirm the exact broker and server.
- Confirm that manual activation is complete.
- Send a screenshot to official support.
The EA Is Active but Has Not Opened a Trade
An active EA is not required to trade continuously.
- There may be no valid strategy signal.
- Market conditions may not pass internal filters.
- The market may be closed or liquidity may be limited.
- Spread, margin, or broker conditions may block execution.
Wrong Symbol or No Price Movement
The broker may use a different symbol name or the account may be disconnected.
- Show all available symbols in Market Watch.
- Open the broker’s exact symbol name.
- Check for prefixes or suffixes.
- Confirm that the broker offers the required instrument.
MT5 Stops after Computer Restart
The terminal and EA must be restored after a system restart.
- Open MetaTrader 5 again.
- Confirm the account has reconnected.
- Confirm the charts and EAs are still loaded.
- Review Algo Trading and platform logs.
Keep MetaTrader 5 online continuously.
Recommended VPS Workflow
Install the broker terminal directly on the VPS, log in to the approved account, copy the EA through the MT5 Data Folder, and complete the same verification process used on a local computer.
- Choose a VPS location near the broker server when practical.
- Use a stable Windows VPS with administrator access.
- Disable sleep, hibernation, and automatic shutdown.
- Do not log out of Windows in a way that closes applications.
- Review MT5 after operating-system or broker-terminal updates.
Protect the account and licensed files.
Never Share the Master Password
ActiveTrader support does not need your master trading password, withdrawal credentials, email password, or remote banking access.
Use Official Support Channels
Request help through the official ActiveTrader Telegram, email, phone, or Contact page. Avoid unverified agents and private payment requests.
Protect the EA File
Do not upload, share, resell, modify, decompile, or distribute licensed EA files. Use them only within the approved licence quota.
